May 8, 2009, will mark the first annual golf tournament focused on the continued support for perinatal bereavement and the good that has come from Anna’s Gift.  The golf tournament will take place in the morning and families are welcome to join the golfers for lunch afterward to hear from nurses that have directly benefited from the foundation’s educational support.

Our Story

 

Anna Jo Evans was 36 1/2 weeks old when the doctors could not find her heartbeat. We had the joy of her presence for nine months and in that short time we grew to love her more then anything we had known.

We realized, while preparing for delivery, how unprepared we were for everything that was happening around us. It was only because of the nurses, their training and their heart’s desire to help us through this moment that we made it through with memories that will last a lifetime for us. They prepared a keepsake box with several photos of Anna, casts of her hands and feet and a hand knitted cap, booties and blanket that they wrapped her in before bringing her to us to say goodbye.


The nurses were also prepared and educated to handle our situation. They coached us through the next 24 hours and were there for us when we had questions or needed someone to cry with. They helped us sort through our thoughts and make decisions that would be with us for the rest of our lives – as a result, we have no regrets or "I wish we would have" moments.
